Bluebeard

Another entry for 's fairy tale contest. It is an illustration for the fairy tale Bluebeard, a particulary gruesome fairy tale in my opinion.

In the story a young girl marries the immensely wealthy but feared aristocrat Bluebeard. He gives her a key to a room, which she mustn't enter. As soon as possible she enters the room (of course..).

There she has to discover Bluebeard's horrible secret: the room's floor is awash with blood and the murdered bodies of her husband's former wives hung from hooks on the walls. Horrified, she drops the key into the pool of blood.

Thats the scene i tried to depict in my image. Her expression didn't really turn out the way i imagined it, but i kinda like it nonetheless .
